Large and flexible spaces, high durability, and business continuity planning are indispensable for a new building. To meet those needs, our company has proposed the "TOLABIS" building system. The building system comprises an isolation story and an outer R/C frame constructed of plate-columns (wall-columns) and girders. In relation to the positions of curtain walls and plate-columns, the girder is eccentrically connected to the plate-column. This places the side of the girder beyond the side of the plate-column. This paper proposes a highly eccentric R/C beam-column joint system. A shear-loading test was conducted using +-shaped frames with a highly eccentric R/C beam-column joint in order to clarify the structural performance of the joint. The results suggest that the properties of a highly eccentric R/C beam-column joint are affected by torsion in the joint. Furthermore, a method that considers the resistance mechanism is proposed for estimating the capacity (shear strength) and stiffness of a frame with a highly eccentric beam-column joint.
