テクノロジーが創る持続可能な未来に向けて
サステナブル社会の実現のために総合建設業がなすべきことは何か。またどのような姿勢で取り組むべきなのか。技術センター長の長島一郎が、カーボンニュートラルを専門とする東京大学の辻󠄀佳子氏、ネイチャーポジティブの動向に詳しいジャーナリストで東北大学教授の藤田香氏をゲストにお迎えし、議論した。持続可能な社会への対応は、「連携と共創」が不可欠。資源循環や脱炭素化を達成するためには、地球環境をトータルに捉え、産業間連携や地域間連携、産官学連携を進めていく必要がある。一方で、原材料調達から緑化や環境モニタリング、木質材料の利用、廃材リサイクル、防災・減災の技術まで、建設産業の取り組みは、すべてがネイチャーポジティブにもつながる。よりよいまちづくりを通じ、地方創生にも力を発揮することが期待されている。

Toward a Sustainable Future Created by Technology
What general contractors should do to achieve a sustainable society? What approach should they have in order to take on this challenge? Ichiro Nagashima, Head of the Technology Center, invited two guests—Prof. Yoshiko Tsuji from the University of Tokyo, who is an expert in carbon emissions reduction, and Prof. Kaori Fujita from Tohoku University, a journalist well-versed in nature-positive trends—and discussed that theme with them. When we work on creating a sustainable society, we need cooperation and co-creation without a doubt. To achieve recycling and decarbonization, we need to comprehensively look at the global environment and work on cooperation among industries and among regions, as well as collaboration among industry, academia, and government. On the other hand, the construction industry is taking a variety of actions that are all connected to nature-positive action. These include the procurement of raw materials, greening, environmental monitoring, the use of wooden materials, recycling of construction waste, and development of technologies to prevent and mitigate disasters. The industry is expected to exert its capabilities with regard to regional revitalization through better urban development.
