We have developed a flexible pile head connection system for cast-in-place concrete pile. This flexible connection system does not anchor the pile rebars to the footings and the pile head is formed in the shape of truncated cone or flat to control the rotation. Structural tests were conducted on this system under variable axial loads and it was clarified that this system could reduce the stress acting on the pile head compared with the rigid one. So this system could realize the high performance of the deformation capacity with little damage of the pile against hard earthquake attacks. An application of this system to a building is also introduced. |
