Recently, high-rise RC buildings become higher and tend to have longer span. Columns in the lower stories of these buildings are subjected to high axial load. Therefore, high strength concrete is used in many cases. We have already evaluated the fundamental structural performance of RC columns using ultra high strength concrete (Fc=150N/mm2). In this paper, structural performance was examined in detail and broadly for the purpose of establishment of more rational design technology.
Based on the results of compression tests, the stress-strain relationship of ultra high strength concrete confined by lateral reinforcement was formulated. Horizontal loading tests combined with the high variable axial load have been conducted to investigate the ultimate strength and deformation capacity of exterior columns. |
