This paper studies the reduction of VOC in a building where natural wood was used as the interior material for flooring, walls and ceiling. Other than natural wood other material with low amounts of VOC emission were selected as far as possible. The effect of these measures was confirmed by measuring the VOC concentration during the construction stage, and 1 month after completion of construction, when the building with furniture was in actual use. The reduction of VOC when using general interior finishing materials was studied. The emissions from the materials used for flooring, walls and ceiling were determined, and from the results, the specification for the material was laid down. The indoor air quality was confirmed at each stage of work.
