Taisei Corporation (President: Yoshiro Aikawa) recognizes the “Realization of a Sustainable and Environmentally Friendly Society” as one of our important ESG challenges. We have revised our long-term environmental target, which is part of the TAISEI Green Target 2050 (see Figure 1 below), as we aim to help achieve a carbon-free society with net zero CO2 emissions in the course of our business operations by 2050.

In October 2020, the Japanese government made a carbon neutral declaration to demonstrate the nation's pledge to aim for a carbon-free society by 2050. In response to this, we will accelerate the efforts that we have made throughout the group under the activities to reduce environmental impact, TAISEI Sustainable Action. Specifically, we will use hybrid heavy machinery and renewable energy, introduce LED lights for temporary lighting, and reduce paper use in meetings in order to reduce CO2 emissions in the course of our business operations by 2050.

We are committed to contributing to the realization of a carbon-free society. To this end, we will promote green procurement in partnership with suppliers, improve our technologies and services provided to customers, and more widely introduce Zero Energy Buildings (ZEB),in which annual energy consumption can be reduced to net zero through energy efficiency and energy creation while maintaining comfortable indoor environment in buildings.

We will continue to strive and operate in an effort to achieve four types of societies described in our efforts to help realize the “Sustainable and Environmentally Friendly Society,” namely, a carbon-free society, a recycling oriented society, a nature co-existing society, and a safety secured society.
