The World That John Lennon Saw
World's First Exhibition - Every Page of Collection of Portraits Drawn by 17-Year-Old John

The John Lennon Museum (Junichi Mizusawa, General Manager of the Museum/ Chuo-ku, Saitama-city), will be exhibiting every page of "DAILY HOWL," the collection of portraits drawn by 17-year-old John Lennon, for the first time in the world in Zone 1 "Childhood Memories" from June 21 to August 28, 2006.

"DAILY HOWL" (20 cm by 15 cm, 76 pages total) was created in circa 1957 when John attended Quarry Bank High School. Two facing pages contain an eccentric portrait on the left side and newspaper parodies with black humor entitled "DAILY HOWL" on the right side. There are black jokes like "His (Our late Editor's) last happy picture" and army ads saying "we are one big happy family" with a picture of soldiers dropping their heads while marching, which gives a feeling of antiwar ideas. It would appear that John's humor and idea of Love & Peace began to grow from a young age.

During the period of this exhibit, the page that have portraits and texts covering two facing pages will be turned every week in sequence, out of 76 pages total (partly missing due to deterioration), and it takes 10 weeks to show the pages. In addition, the pictures of every page will be shown.
