ＣＤＭの仕組みと当社の取り組み
クリーン開発メカニズム（Clean Development Mechanism: CDM）は京都議定書で合意された京都メカニズムの一つである。温室効果ガスの削減義務を有する先進国が、削減義務のない途上国で温室効果ガスの削減プロジェクトを実施する。削減された温室効果ガスはクレジットとして、先進国の温室効果ガス削減に使用することができる。当社はCDMプロジェクトとなりうる案件の発掘、事業性調査を実施してきており、植林、バイオディーゼルなどのプロジェクトを計画中である。途上国で各種プロジェクトを実施するにあたり、GIS（地理情報システム）の活用が有効であると考えられる。カンボジアの植林プロジェクトではGISを利用した栽培適地の選定を行なった。

Clean Development Mechanism and Our Attempt to Develop CDM Projects
Clean development mechanism (CDM) is developed as a part of Kyoto protocol to reduce greenhouse gases (GHGs). Annex I countries (developed countries), where numerical target is set, conduct projects to reduce GHGs in non-Annex I countries (developing countries). The reduced amount of GHGs, credit, is used to achieve the numerical target in Annex I countries. Taisei corporation has been trying to develop CDM projects and conducting feasibility studies. Afforestation, substitution of fossil oil with biodiesel are examples of CDM projects developed. The use of GIS (geographic information system) was effective tool to make a plan in remote areas. For example, the rubber-plantation area in Cambodia was selected by using GIS.
