- Test the Effectiveness of Outer-Ring by Apply Load and FEM Analysis - |

Recently 'water-tight', which means no influence
on surrounding water level, tunnel excavation is required from the point of
protection of environment. To solve this problem, the author developed an 'All
Around Type Shield Machine', which can construct tunnels in both soils and
rocks. A face plate of this shield machine has roller cutters to break rocks
so that it must have enough strength. The author installed an outer ring around
the face plate as reinforcement. To estimate the effect of the ring, the author
build an experimental machine. Then loading tests were conducted and FEM structural
analyses were performed, and the effect was confirmed. |
