Study on Torsional Behavior of Composite Foundation A purpose of this study is to make a prediction method for the torsional behavior of a composite foundation. To investigate the torsional behavior of the composite foundation, shaking table tests using a centrifuge model was carried out. Two types of composite foundations composed of a spread foundation and pile foundation, are used as test model. Simulation analyses of model test using a 3D-FEM are carried out to verify the numerical procedure. From the centrifuge model tests and the simulation analyses, following conclusions are obtained. The 3D-FEM simulation is suitable for predicting the torsional behavior of the composite foundation. The pile bending moment is strongly affected by the rocking motion of the foundation.
