Environmental data

This section provides data on areas such as resource and energy inputs, emissions from resources and energy generated in the course of business operations, and reduction rates.

Environmentally friendly building construction and operation

Standards for the Calculation of Greenhouse Gas Emissions

1) Greenhouse gas emissions were calculated in accordance with the Manual for the Calculation and Reporting of Greenhouse Gas Emissions (Version 3.1) of the Ministry of the Environment and the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry. Emission coefficient values announced by the Federation of Electric Power Companies of Japan were used to calculate emissions generated from the use of electric power. Emissions for FY2010 were estimated from the figure for 2009 (0.412 kg-CO2/kWh).
2) CO2 emissions were estimated based on sample data obtained from worksites.
3) Sales shares by type of construction work were taken into consideration when calculating CO2 emissions for civil engineering.
Note: Due to changes made to the standards for the calculation of greenhouse gas emissions and to the emission coefficient values announced by the Federation of Electric Power Companies of Japan, some of the figures shown above differ from the figures presented in CSR Report 2010.

7. Percentage of electronic manifests used for construction waste

Taisei is leading the construction industry in the introduction of electronic manifests for waste. The percentage of electronic manifests among all manifests (popularization rate) in FY 2010 reached 81%.

Breakdown of construction waste

*1: Estimated values calculated based on sample data.
*2: Data collected covers buildings of the head office and branch offices, and worksites for construction work contracted out to Taisei (excluding overseas construction work).
*3: Data collected covers construction work contracted out exclusively to Taisei and work contracted out to a joint venture represented by Taisei (excluding overseas construction work).

* Due to rounding errors, totals shown in the above table may differ from sums obtained by adding individual values.
